Nasi Lemak consists of rice cooked in coconut milk with some pandan leaves for its fragrance. Spicy sambal gives it an extra zing. It is traditionally served hot and packed in banana leaves. 

Originally, nasi lemak is a farmer’s meal. Farmers needed hearty meal in the morning. Nasi Lemak provided enough energy and nutrients for farmers to meet the demand of long day working. Eventually, Nasi Lemak became a comfort food staple for the majority of Malaysians and Singaporeans.
