Fluffy and soft, we all love rabbits. They are just so cute! They are also a fairly popular pet. The average lifespan of a rabbit is between 8 to 10 years.

Rabbits are herbivores (plant eating) mammals. Vegetables, tree bark and herbs are their favorite foods. A male rabbit is called buck and a female one is called doe. A baby rabbit is called kitten or a kit. Rabbits can mate when they are 3 months old and can have babies when they are 6 months old. The gestation period of a rabbit is only 30 days. They can produce 20 to 40 babies a year.

Rabbits are social, loving and interactive animals. They live in groups. Happy rabbits practice a cute behavior known as a “binky:” they jump up in the air and twist and spin around!

A rabbit’s teeth never stop growing!  Many people believe they need to chew to keep their teeth short.  While they do enjoy chewing, it’s the normal wear from where their top and bottom teeth meet that keeps a rabbit’s teeth short.
