Hibiscus grows mostly in the tropics. The flower usually has five petals and comes in many colours like white to pink, red, purple and yellow.

Hibiscus is Malaysia’s national flower where it’s locally known as the Bunga Raya. Hibiscus species represent nations. The red of the petals symbolizes the courage, life, and rapid growth of the Malaysian, and the five petals represent the five Rukun Negara (Malay for “National Principles”) of Malaysia which are:

  2. Kesetiaan Kepada Raja dan Negara ( Loyalty to King and Country)
  3. Keluhuran Perlembagaan ( Supremacy of Constitution)
  4. Kedaulatan Undang-Undang ( Rule of Law)
  5. Kesopanan dan Kesusilaan ( Good Behavior and Morality)
